Grand Quattro is the latest smart phone of Samsung galaxy from the South Korean brand. In Italian, Quattro means Four; so I was quite curious to know what this has the connection with Samsung’s new phone. A large 4.7 inches handset, Galaxy Grand Quattro is a dual-SIM smart phone that comes with features that are sure to lure consumers in large.

An Android based device,Samsung galaxy Grand Quattro is similar to other recent Galaxy phones available in the market. Also, it is the first device to be powered with latest Snapdragon 200 8625Q processor. Quattro is available for purchase in various retail outlets and e-commerce websites for the price of Rs. 16500. Let us find out what this new Grand is to offer?

Build and Appearance

Design of the phone is what lures most of the buyers, apart from its tech specs. The new mobile handset from Samsung, Grand Quattro comes in similar design and appearance to that of Galaxy Grand, though it is 4.7 inches; while latter measured 5 inches. Quattro weighs 144 grams and measures 70.7x133.3x9.65 mm in dimensions, making it quite slim and light.

The design of the handset is totally based of Galaxy Grand. It comes with silver bezel running all over the phone. Above the screen, you can find a front camera along with sensors and speaker; while capacitive buttons (Settings and Back) along with physical Home button can be found below the display.

Its right spine has been included with a power button, whereas volume rockers finds it place to the left. At top, you can find audio jack and microUSB port finds it place at the bottom. The rear panel is removable, with battery and SIM, microSD slots under the hood. You can locate a 5MP camera along with LED flash speaker at the back as well.

Hardware and Performance

Quattro comes with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 MSM8625Q Processor under the hood. That’s sound interesting! And also the inclusion of Adreno 203 GPU makes the handset compatible with most of the HD gaming. Multitasking was made simple with such configuration.

It might be good a phone at this price point, but at several points you will notice few glitches and hang ups while playing games. But the inclusion of 1GB RAM did helped Quattro a lot to run most of the games and made it crossed AnTuTu benchmark score of 12000 easily. I wouldn’t say best, but a decent tech specs have been included in Grand Quattro.

Software and User Interface

Samsung has included Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) OS in its latest handset. This new device comes integrated with Jelly Bean Operating System, making the mobile experience more intriguing.

The handset comes with Touchwiz User Interface. Also, it has been included with nature UX for supporting usual sounds within the device. The UI is stock Android; similar to other Android handsets, it is simple to navigate and browse the Menu. It can be added with up to 7 home screen s that feature widgets, folders and shortcut to apps.

It has been provided with notification bar just like other Jelly Bean handsets and allows the users to perform various actions like share, delete and change setting options. Overall, the Android experience in this new phone was quite decent.

Display and Camera

Grand Quattro comes with large 4.7-inch TFT Capacitive Touch Screen that offers 800 x 480 pixels resolution along with 198 ppi pixel density, though the screen is not AMOLED nor IPS, still it manages to deliver decent touch responsiveness and visuals. Also, the screen brightness is quite good and it offers great watching experience in daylight.

The handset has been provided with a 5 Mega Pixel Rear Camera, which manages to shoot decent images, both in indoor and outdoor. Its LED flash comes handy in dark surroundings or during night. Samsung has include different shootings modes and effects in the camera app. Only the thing that I hated was its front camera. It’s pathetic, making a video call is useless with its 0.3MP front camera.

Storage and Battery

The device comes with 8GB on-board storage, of which around 5GB is user accessible. It also comes with an option to expand the storage up to 32GB via SD card, though you cannot move the installed apps to the microSD card.

A 2000mAh battery has been used to power up Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro. The phone managed to offer 11 hours of talk time and stand by time up to 210 hours. Still, you can install some battery saving app to control the power usage.
